Sydney Bennett was called to the Bar in 1980. In his 32 years of practice Sydney has advised and successfully represented Governments, government departments, statutory bodies and corporations, public utilities, banks and other financial institutions, liquidators, receivers, a hotel chain and other leading business organizations and individuals throughout the Eastern Caribbean region, appearing in arbitration and other proceedings, in trials in the High Court and Court of Appeal in the British Virgin Islands and elsewhere and before the Privy Council in London. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2003.
Sydney has practiced in the BVI for the past 23 years; and has acted as a Justice of Appeal in the Court of Appeal of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court. He acquired his Legal Education Certificate and Bachelors of Law from the University of the West Indies and in his spare time he enjoys a game of chess and listening to jazz.
